Out of the 33 young ladies playing summer league, 15 have a parent (or two!) who have or will coach basketball. We will also work some this summer with three Framingham school district coaches - Coach Carolyn A Wynn who coached the middle school team, Coach Carolyn Gibson who coached the JV team, Coach Dee King who coached the Varsity team and Tim Skaggs Jr, a local AAU coach.
THIS is remarkable. Welcome to all of you. I can use all the help that I can get to grow Framingham Ashland Dover Sherborn Girls basketball program.
I will spend the summer teaching a freelance motion offense called the Read and React and a sagging, switching man to man defense. We will spend a lot of time on individual man to man skills.
Here is a preview of the offense. Just ignore the commercials at the end of the video.
Here is a six minute or so video that explains the first layer:
I will cover these Layers during our preseason practices.
Layer 1 – Pass & Cut
Layer 2 – Post Pass & Cut
Layer 3 – Dribble At
Layer 4 – Circle Move
Layer 5 – Post Slides
Layer 6 – Baseline Drive
Layer 15 - Power Dribble
Layer 17 – Transition
By the end of the season, those Layers will be habit.
