Destroyers 10,000 Makes Shot Club

There is a saying in the coaching circle that great teams are made from November to March, and great players are made during the summer. Now is time for the players to work on their individual skills and become great players. And one of the most important skills in basketball is the ability to shoot the ball. You want to know the best way to make your high school team? Be an awesome shot.

This summer I encourage your daughter to take part in the FADS Girls Basketball 10,000 Makes Club Challenge. This challenge is open to all female players from 4th to 9th grade in Framingham, Ashland, Dover and Sherborn. The purpose of this challenge is to improve each player's shooting ability by getting them to MAKE a minimum of 10,000 shots over the course of the summer.

The program will run from June 1st through August 31st, 2010.  Each girl will keep a daily record of the shots made and enter them on the shot tracker spread sheet.  This will keep a cumulative tally so they can chart their progress.

Each participant needs to be disciplined to  get out and shoot as often as possible.  The goal is to make 10,000 shots! This is a goal to literally shoot for.  It will be challenging goal to make unless you stay on top of it. It is best for player development that the player a shoot a little every day rather than a lot once or twice a week.

Becoming a great shooter requires hard work, dedication, and hours and hours of repetition. Although made 10,000 shots may sound like a lot, splitting it up requires less than 30 minutes a day of shooting. Improving your shooting skills requires proper form and technique, yet the most important of all perhaps is muscle memory. In other words shooting skills can be improved through daily commitment,  continual repetition with correct form and practice.

Parental involvement is important.

1. Please encourage your child to work hard & keep it fun. (Instead of watching TV or playing video games, go play ball & shoot)
2. Get outside, count makes and rebound for your child.
3. You must sign off your child’s shots each day. We want the players to earn this challenge.

- Shoot, shoot, and shoot some more – with GOOD shooting form. Vary the shots for game type situations, layups and shoot a lot of free throws. At least 10% of the made shots should be free throws.

- Count how many shots made
- Complete the shooting club form to easily track the shots made – including signature by a parent
- Email  in monthly shot total by the 5th of the month to   RTSALLIE@gmail.com

At the end of the summer, mail your signed and completed chart  by September 7th, 2013 to the address below
